It's a fact of life in our school that we will lose and gain students in our classroom community. Despite the fact that students know their friends will come and go, our students are so warm and embracing. They welcome students into our community and help them to adjust to their new environment. When a student leaves, they celebrate the student and make gifts/cards for them to take with them as a remembrance.
Today we had a student leave our classroom to return to his home country. The students spent the last two classes secretly making a card and taking on the responsibility of getting all the students in the grade to sign it. Their warm welcome and equally warm goodbye is a testament to the caring environment they interact within everyday.
